I remember my subject in Philippine Literature back in college where in class we discuss topics about legends,myths,folkores, and other elements of the rich and dynamic literature by the creative minds of the Filipinos. This realization refreshes my mind as watching the Pinoy fantaserye Encantadia, got me inspired. After three years of being aired at GMA network (specifically in year 2006), Encantadia is now available for your convenient viewing at MyPinoy.tv (See http://Mypinoy.tv).
As I have said, watching Encantadia relives the past when Filipino people used to believe in legendary characters like dwarfs, fairies, ogres, and other mystical beings. In my opinion, literary account and stories of such legendary beings is an evidence or mark on how creative the Filipino minds are when it comes to enriching our Philippine literature and culture as well. So, in watching all the episodes of Encantadia, I should say that it deserve to be the best, top-ranking fantaserye (39.3 % in rating) among its competing fantaseryes during year 2006.
In addition, I have got to mention the casting of this fantaserye for I consider them good actors and actresses for portraying their roles in this serye. Sunshine Dizon who plays the role of Pirena (the diwata guarding the fire gem); Isa Calzado, who plays the role of Amihan (the diwata of the air gem), Diana Zubiri as Danaya (the diwata of Earth gem), and lastly, Karyle and Dindong Dantes as Ybrahim and Alena (Alena,the diwata gurading the water gem). Indeed, they are really great and influential actors for they really moved me in the way they portrayed their roles as Sang’gres who fight to keep their relationship with the other kingdoms intact and discovering that LOVE and FORGIVENESS is the cure to all the conflicts happening in Encantadia.
